John Boyle and Eddie Firmani celebrate.August 24th, 1975 will be a date that all Rowdies fans will remember, it was the day that the Rowdies beat the Portland Timbers 2-0, in the first Soccer Bowl. Played at Spartan Stadium, San Jose, California, in front of 17,009 fans.
With goals coming from substitute Arsene Auguste, and Clyde Best.

Three things I find interesting about that first shot:
1) Mesh jerseys, which weren't used much in 1975.
2) Firmani was wearing a jersey, even though he only played in the first game of the year against Rochester as a late sub.
3) Firmani's surname is misspelled. Maybe that's why he eventually left? ;)
