Peter Nogly 1982, 1983

Peter Nogly was born January 14th, 1947 in Travemuende, West Germany. He started his career in his home town with TSV Travemuende and hit two more clubs, Eichholzer SV and Phoenic Lubek, before making his name at world famous HSV Hamburg of the West German Bundesliga.
Played there for 11 years as captain, he was a member of the team that won the German League Cup in 1972 and 1976, and the team that won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1977. Also, a four time member of the West German national side.
In 1980, he made the move to Canada, to play for the Edmonton Drillers where he appeared in 25 games and scoring 7 goals with 5 assists.. In 1981, he notched up an amazing 24 points (fourth best on the team) from his position as sweeper for the drillers. Made 28 appearances and scored 9 goals and 6 assists. His always consistent, often stellar play earned him team MVP honors and selection to the NASL All-Star team.
The Rowdies purchased his contract in 1982, Peter played in every game of the '82 season, 21 of them as sweeper and 11 in midfield. Finished the season as the Rowdies' fourth leading scorer, putting away 4 goals and 5 assists for 13 points. Made the NASL All-Star team for the third year year in a row. He was the only Rowdie to make the first team that year.
In 1983, he played in 24 games, scored 4 goals, 2 assists for 10 points. After his NASL career he returned to Germany and would see out his career with Hertha BSC Berlin and FC St. Pauli.
After, his playing career he turned his hand to coaching, with spells in Germany and South Africa.
