NSC Minnesota Stars vs. Rowdies

NSC Minnesota Stars 1 vs. Rowdies 0
In their third matchup of the season, the Rowdies lose 1-0 to the NSC Minnesota Stars. Midfielder Scott Lorenz gave the Stars the help for their lead in the 29th minute with a shot on goal that deflected off Rob Valentino's leg and bounced over goalkeeper Daryl Sattler into the right corner of the net. The Rowdies had a chance to even the score in the first half with a free kick awarded after Stars Daniel Wasson received a yellow card for a slide tackle on Stanley Nyazamba in the 41st minute. Yendry Diaz took the kick 30 yards out but the ball went just wide of the goal.
"It is always tough to win on the road in this league, and tonight was very frustrating, especially with nearly half of our starters sidelined," said Head Coach Paul Dalglish. "It has been difficult for our team lately with all of the injuries, but we can change the results by continuing to work hard and developing these young players who we are counting on now. And once again, the effort was there from our team, but we came up short."
The second half didn't see a change in the score but Sattler made multiple saves to keep the score only a one goal difference. A one-on-one battle between second half sub Brian Cvilikas and Sattler almost gave the Stars a 2-0 lead but Sattler came up with the Rowdies save. Even with three fresh sets of legs, the Rowdies weren't able to convert their pressure into goals.
"I thought Daryl was fantastic with the great save to keep the game scoreless in the first half and again with some excellent stops to keep us within one goal in the second half," said Dalglish.
