I remember in pre season I think it was 1991 a young British kid called Reno Manne that trained with the squad in pre season. Maybe it was 92 not sure. I was a big Rowdies fan back then and remember that kid HE like Maradonna and Pele rolled into literally unbelievable. He was a tennis coach at that Nick Bollettieri tennis place in Bradenton just down the road from Tampa. i remember he played in a pre season exhibition with the team and scored 3 goals in a performance that incredible we, what a little genius he was. He did not sign a full contract as Ricky could not get him to sign. I think it was because of money or they did not get along. What a player though. Then in 95 I went to Norway as my wife is Norwegian so we usually went once every two years to see her family. I am watching their soccer on the TV and there he was Reno Manne playing for a Norwegian Club. I went to watch a game for the team he was playing for and what a player he was. I wish he had signed full time for us back then. Just wanted to share that with you all:)

Hi I was a big Rowdies fan back in the late 80's early nineties. I remember in the pre season of 1991 a young British boy training and playing with the squad. His was Reno Manne and what a playing genius he was, what a player!!. He was literally like George Best and Pele rolled into one. He trained and played a few exhibition pre season games with the club and he was quite simply an outstanding player and talent. He was actually working as a tennis coach at that Bollettieri Tennis place in Bradenton just down the road. I remember watching him playing a charity exhibition game for us the Tampa Bay Rowdies and he was flippin unbelievable with the ball.
In the end he did not sign a full contract because I think he and Ricky did not see eye to eye and maybe it was money too. This kid Reno Manne was an incredible talent. Anyways my wife is Norwegian and in 95 we went to Norway to visit her family. I was watching a soccer game on the TV and guess what there he was Reno Manne playing for one of the teams in Norway. I watched the game and oh boy was he a good player!!! Scored two great goals in that game. He could dribble like a genius. How did we let him go?? It would have been great if had signed for us back then. Anyway just wanted to share that with you all:)
