Rowdies vs. Ft. Lauderdale Strikers

Ft. Lauderdale Strikers 1 vs. Rowdies 1
The Rowdies and the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers played to a 1-1 tie Wednesday night at Lockhart Stadium.
The Strikers salvaged a point and extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches when midfielder Eduardo Coudet put a free kick just inside the post in second half stoppage time.
"It is important that we stay mentally strong throughout the duration of the game," said Rowdies' coach Ricky Hill. "Give credit to their player, who got it over the wall at a crucial time and into the net. I am disappointed in that we managed to withstand an enormous amount of pressure, and then we find ourselves with the free kick against us and they score the equalizer."
Rowdies' forward Mike Ambersley gave the team a 1-0 lead in the 68th minute thanks to a perfect pass from Tsuyoshi Yoshitake, who put Ambersley one on one with goalkeeper Matt Glaeser. Ambersley chipped it over Glaeser for his team-high sixth goal of the season, including his fourth in the last four matches.
"If our players can rewind that goal and put it in their memory bank, maybe they can see how effective two-touch football can be," said Hill. "We have a good positive run, and Mike makes a fantastic play to finish. But unfortunately tonight we lacked consistency and didn't take advantage of several other good counter-attacking opportunities."
The two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first 45 minutes, with the Strikers holding a 14-5 advantage in shots in the opening half. Rowdies' rookie goalkeeper Jeff Attinella kept the match tied with four saves in the first half as the Strikers had several opportunities to take the lead. Forward Warren Ukah had the best chance for the Rowdies in the final minutes of the half, but his header was saved by Glaeser just before the break.
Both teams had scoring chances early in the second half. Midfielder Takuya Yamada received a ball from Yoshitake after some excellent passing from the Rowdies, but Yamada's shot went just wide of the post in the 57th minute. For the Strikers, both Coudet and Abe Thompson had opportunities to break the scoreless tie in the 63rd minute, but Coudet hit the crossbar and Thompson was stopped by a Tampa defender.
"We got a point on the road but it feels like a loss right now because we were so close to earning three points," said Hill. "We can play better as a team, and I expect us to play better."
The two teams will meet once again this Monday, July 4th at 6:00 p.m. at Al Lang Stadium as part of Light Up The Bay 7.4 presented by Budweiser. Tradition. Fireworks. Rivalry.
"We are hoping to play a more complete game on Monday," said Hill. "We welcome them and we welcome the rivalry."

Lineups:
Rowdies Lineup: Attinella, Sanfilippo (Captain), Arango, Watson-Siriboe, Rodrigues, Savage, Yamada, Yoshitake, Millien (Hill 75'), Ambersley, Ukah
Ft. Lauderdale Strikers Lineup: Glaeser, Laing (West 64'), Hohlbein (Santamaria 79'), Arrieta, Lancaster, LePetit, Celestino (Grant Kerr 83'), Shriver, Nunez, Coudet, Thompson

Scoring Summary:Rowdies: Mike Ambersley - 68th minute (assisted by Tsuyoshi Yoshitake)
Strikers: Eduardo Coudet - 90th+ minute

Rowdies vs. Carolina Railhawks

Carolina Railhawks 3 vs. Rowdies 1
The Rowdies dropped a 3-1 decision to the Carolina RailHawks Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. The win marked the eighth consecutive victory for the RailHawks and extended Carolina's unbeaten streak to 11 straight.
"It is a disappointing loss," said Rowdies head coach Ricky Hill. "It is a 90 minute game and I ask our team to maintain concentration for the duration of the game. I thought we had a decent performance in the first half, but that means nothing because we did not sustain it in the final 45 minutes."
The Rowdies scored first on a goal by forward Warren Ukah in the 18th minute, his second of the season. Midfielder Tsuyoshi Yoshitake fired a shot that was saved by Knighton, but the rebound bounced to Ukah, who deposited it into the back of the net.
Carolina responded in the 36th minute as Matt Watson put a shot behind Rowdies goalkeeper Jeff Attinella to tie the match at 1. The goal marked Watson's second of the season and came on a pass from forward Etienne Barbara for his league-leading sixth assist of the year.
Forward Mike Ambersley had the Rowdies' best chance in the second half. In the 59th minute, he flicked the ball past Knighton before colliding with the Carolina goalkeeper, but the ball trickled just outside the far post.
Carolina took its first lead of the contest as Barbara scored his league-leading 13th goal of the season with a score in the 69th minute. The RailHawks put the game away in injury time when Barbara fed second half sub Allan Russell for the final goal.

Lineups:
Rowdies Lineup: Attinella, Sanfilippo (Captain), Hayes, Arango, Watson-Siriboe, Savage, Yoshitake, Gyorio, Millien (Clare 81'), Ukah (King 73'), Ambersley
Carolina RailHawks Lineup: Knighton, Rusin (Captain), Krause, Low, Franks, Nurse, Watson, Steele, Zimmerman, Campos (Russell 81'), Barbara

Scoring Summary:Rowdies: Warren Ukah - 18th minute
Railhawks: Matt Watson - 36th minute (assisted by Etienne Barbara)
Railhawks: Etienne Barbara - 69th minute
Railhawks: Allan Russell - 90th+ minute (assisted by Etienne Barbara)
