TEL CURRIE'S RODNEY MARSH COLUMN

JUST SPOKE TO RODNEY!!!!

Hi Folks, I have just come off the phone after a great hour long chat with great legend... Rodney Marsh!
He asked me to send you ALL his best wishes, he is in fine form :-*

Rod's new book ' I Was Born a Loose Cannon' is due out very soon. Rod, has assured me that this book contains far more information than 'PRICELESS'. It's less diplomatic and contains far more information about the 'Boy's Of '67' at QPR.
Forgotten idols like- Les Allen, The Morgan twins, Mark Lazarus, Jim Gregory, Alec Stock.... and Rod's dear pal, Bobby Keetch. There is much more about George Best, Wayne Rooney & the current crop of 'STARS'. You will be pleased to hear that the great man himself told me " There is a hell of a lot about QPR in it!"

It's the ultimate book to chart Rod's earlier career and ... Route to the 'Rowdies'!.
Rodney also informed me, that far more information & untold stories regarding the ' Rowdies', his life in America and the great players he has played with and against!
Also, more on ALL Rod's other Clubs, and the sacking from ' Talk Sport' (A show which never recovered , in my opinion!)
Rodney gives his views on Jeff Stelling & others, bringing us right up to date!
Nothing is skimmed over.... even 'Mad' Frank Fraser is mentioned! (Taking sales away from MY books about MY world... MR MARSH!!!! ;) ;))

But seriously, this will be the ULTIMATE RODNEY MARSH book!! In Rodney's own words " It's payback time for some!"
I can also add, it's time the undervalued , like Les Allen, Mike Keen & Bobby Keetch, all the 'Rowdies' .. etc, etc.. are shown why they should be held in far higher esteem than they have been! (Something Rod feels VERY strong about!)

Obviously, this book is not just about Rodney, but the Clubs, Players, Managers & Chairman he has known... " With loads of 'Rowdies' ". (Rod, just told me a few stories that I didn't know!)
If you can resist buying this book.... You can't be a REAL fan!!!! ;) ;) ;) ;)

Love 'Ya

Rowdies vs. Crystal Palace Baltimore

Rowdies 6 vs. Crystal Palace Baltimore 3
FC Tampa Bay’s inaugural season ended exactly as it began 167 days prior, with a win over Crystal Palace Baltimore. The teams closed their season with a nine-goal thriller at Steinbrenner Field. The Rowdies won 6-3, improving its record to 7-12-11.
“The guys played with a lot of pride and professionalism tonight. It was the last game, it was fan appreciation night, so we wanted the players to give their best and I think they did,” said Interim Head Coach and Technical Director Perry Van Der Beck. The Rowdies hit the ground running with midfielder and St. Pete native Chad Burt scoring an amazing goal in just the third minute of play. Burt received the ball about 30 yards from goal and fired a powerful shot past Baltimore goalkeeper Mark Murphy into the upper right corner of the net. Burt’s goal was his first of the season. Takuya Yamada racked up his second assist of the season on the play.
In the 12th minute of play, team scoring leader Aaron King scored his 11th goal of the season after a perfectly weighted through ball from Pascal Millien. Millien played in every game this season for the Rowdies and recorded one goal and two assists.
Less than a minute later, Mozzi Gyorio scored his first goal as a professional with a perfectly placed shot into the upper left corner of Murphy’s goal to give the Rowdies a 3-0 lead less than 15 minutes into the game.
Gyorio scored his second goal of the half in the 29th minute to give the home team a 4-0 lead. Baltimore midfielder Adauto Neto gave his team a lifeline with a goal in the 39th minute.
Aaron King scored his 12th goal of the season on the hour mark to give the Rowdies a 5-1 lead. King stole the ball off of a defender, dribbled across the top of the box, poked the ball between the defenders’ legs, stepped around the defense and fired past Murphy for the goal.
“We needed to end the season with a win. We started the season by beating those guys this year and we end it on a good note by doing it again at the end. We needed that win just for pride,” said King. “(12 goals) is a good personal mark for me, but I wish we were going into the postseason. I’m going to focus on scoring some big goals when I’m called upon again.”
Crystal Palace Baltimore player/manager Jim Cherneski stole the show by scoring a pair of goals in the 62nd and 65th minutes to make the score 5-3.
Ricardo Sanchez scored the final goal of the inaugural season from the penalty spot after Shaun Pejic pulled down Maykel Galindo. It was Sanchez’s fifth goal as a Rowdie.

Lineups:
Rowdies Lineup: Sattler, Valentin, Morrow, Millien, Diaz,(46' - Nyazamba), Galindo (70' - Adjeman-Pamboe), Burt, Gyorio, Sanchez, Yamada, King.
